Georgia 4-H is a unit of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension. The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps program is managed by faculty and staff at the Georgia 4-H State office. This is a National Service position funded through a grant from Georgia Serves (aka Georgia Commission on Service & Volunteerism) and AmeriCorps, the federal agency, for a term of service Sept. 1, 2026 – Aug. 31st 2027. Benefits provided to half-time AmeriCorps members include modest monthly living allowance ($1,037.50/month), loan forbearance, and a Segal Education Award equivalent to half of the Pell Grant that may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions as well as to repay qualified student loans. To qualify for the Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 the member must successfully log 900 service hours by August 31, 2027.

Provided direct services to youth in all areas of 4-H programming, focusing on in-school educational club meetings, preparing youth for 4-H Project Achievement, attending summer camp, and delivering community service projects in Cherokee County and around the state, under the direction of the 4-H agent and CEC. This is a direct service position that requires transporting youth and includes some night and weekend hours, as well as daytime school hours, which can vary. Georgia 4-H supports our mission: to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society. This mission is accomplished through “hands-on” learning experiences, focused on agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, food and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship. Teaching / Youth Development and/ or Tutoring experience is a plus. An applicant who is comfortable with presenting science/life skills lessons in front of a class of children in 5th -8th grade is a plus!
High school diploma or equivalent required. A valid driver’s license is required.
Must attend the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation (October 6-7, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center) as well as additional face-to-face trainings and at least monthly webinars.
