Job Description

This position is responsible for performing administrative support for the operations of the Engineering Department. Responsibilities include:

  • Provides customer service: answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel; takes messages and makes appointments.
  • Creates, submits, monitors and closes work orders.
  • Prepares documents, memoranda, letters, email and other correspondence.
  • Processes documentation pertaining to receipts and expenditures; prepares purchase orders; reviews invoices, purchase orders and other documents; researches and resolves discrepancies.
  • Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
  • Maintains department files and records; scans records into computer; disposes of documents in accordance with records retention guidelines;  organizes and maintains project files.
  • Prepares Requests for Proposals and contract related documents.
  • Reads and interprets GIS data in relation to City infrastructure and provides information as needed.
  • Coordinates special projects, programs and events as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of office administrative experience; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of computers and job related software, skill in prioritizing and organizing work, customer service, oral and written communication, and maintenance of files and records.
