Job Summary: We seek a highly experienced and knowledgeable Accountant or Cost Accountant with expertise in the construction/steel industry. This role will be instrumental in managing financial transactions, analyzing costs, and contributing to the overall financial health of our organization. You must be hands-on and possess extensive knowledge of financial accounting, accounting systems, and the unique challenges and dynamics of the steel and or construction industry. The successful candidate will be critical in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring our company’s financial stability and growth. Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping:

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and other relevant documentation.
Collaborate with the accounting team and project management to help with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

Cost Accounting:

Track and analyze costs related to production, projects, or specific activities.
Help management understand and control costs to improve profitability.

Cost Analysis:

Conduct cost analysis to assist in budgeting and forecasting.
Collaborate with project managers to understand and track project costs.
Monitor key financial metrics and provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

Accounts Payable/Receivable:

Oversee and support accounts payable and receivable functions.
Ensure timely and accurate job coding of vendor and supplier invoices and payments.
Generate proper and accurate project billings per contract terms, track payments, and follow up with clients on outstanding balances.

Financial Audits & Financial Analysis:

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and assistance as required.
Assist in implementing audit findings and recommendations.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
Provide insights and recommendations to management for informed decision-making.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting roles
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge of accounting software systems.
Proven track record in financial planning and analysis, project cost accounting, project cash flow management.
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Familiarity with construction accounting principles and practices (preferred but not mandatory).
Familiarity with the steel industry accounting principles and practices (preferred but not mandatory).
These responsibilities may be adjusted or expanded depending on Cobb Industrials’ specific needs. Additionally, as individuals gain experience and progress in their job functions, they may take on more specialized roles or leadership positions within the accounting department.
