Job Summary:

The hands-on Maintenance Technician is responsible for solving electrical and mechanical problems on all production lines in the factory. He or she is responsible for carrying out preventive and acute maintenance works in order to maintain, adapt or improve the functionality (performance, reliability, availability, safety…) of the industrial machines, installations or systems and in order to ensure their expected lifespan.

  • Functional relationship with various departments including Production, Supply Chain, Quality and R&D.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain industrial equipment mechanically and electrically in a proactive way, utilizing the maintenance plan and guidelines.
  2. Participate in installations of new machines, modifications of existing machines and machine improvement projects.
  3. Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical machine malfunctions.
  4. Execute reactive maintenance like repairing equipment, machines and tools when they break down or need to be replaced.
  5. Carry out revisions and repairs of pumps, compressors, extrusion dies, filters, etc.
  6. Secure the machines from a safety point of view before they can be used for production.
  7. Dismantle machine parts and replace defective machine parts.
  8. Create and execute a general maintenance plan and guidelines for the plant.
  9. Checking proper operation of material and equipment.
  10. Provide technical support to the machine operators.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION / SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE

 High School Diploma, some College and certificates preferred.

  1. 5 years of experience in a hands-on technical maintenance position.
  2. Experience in manufacturing, preferably in a plastic extrusion and/or profiling environment.
  3. Knowledge of electricity: installations, machines and controls.
  4. Knowledge of mechanics: machine parts, construction theory, materials science, etc.
  5. Knowledge of measurement technology in the context of maintenance work.
  6. Basic knowledge of electronics: reading and understanding schematics, knowing components.
  7. Basic knowledge of automation: reading and understanding schematics, knowing components.
  8. Basic knowledge of hydraulics: reading and understanding diagrams, knowing components.
  9. Basic knowledge of pneumatics: reading and understanding schematics, knowing components.
  10. Forklift certification required.
  11. Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  12. Written and verbal communication skills; Secondary language in Spanish a plus.
  13. Good time management and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
