JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Response Behavioral Health Therapist will be a fully licensed clinician with the state of Georgia. They will work through a collaboration with law enforcement agencies and representatives of Highland Rivers Behavioral Health on a community response team. The team will focus on the diversion of individuals from jails and emergency departments and on reduction of non- emergency 911 calls. The therapist will respond in the community as a member of the team with primary function of assessment of potential mental health and/or substance use disorders and the de-escalation of individuals experiencing a behavior health crisis. The therapist will assist with linkage to appropriate services for ongoing treatment. Additionally, where deemed necessary the therapist will execute the 1013/2013 form for transport to an emergency receiving facility for assessment for inpatient admission. The co- responder teams will partner with substance use treatment partners to provide follow- up visits with patients who have experienced an overdose to offer opportunities to speak with a peer counselor/case manager.
