Job Description

Position Summary

The Communications Assistant will provide support in graphic design, content creation, and general  communications from History Cherokee to members and the general population. Additionally, this position will staff the museum welcome desk one day a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create graphics for all events, programs, and exhibits to be used on website, social media, emails, and additional places.
  • Create content for social media accounts, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Update the website to keep the public informed about ongoing activities.
  • Conduct email outreach to organization email audiences, highlighting upcoming events.
  • Assist with print mail campaigns to promote organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure effective marketing for all departments and events.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Staff the museum welcome desk at least one day a week.

Compensation

  • Hourly, $17 – $20 an hour based on experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content management.
  • Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Video editing skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mailchimp.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
