Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Exercise and promote safety

Use small tools effectively (nail gun, skilsaw, Sawzall, air bander, sander, die grinder, stencil printer, etc.)

Inspect extruded aluminum for material quality

Verify piece count and length

Verify the shape matches the part drawing (visual only)

Examine and inspect stenciling on extruded aluminum per the traveler and UAC’s Standard Practices to ensure that it meets customer and industry specifications

Sand, buff and blend material for quality blemishes

Understand scrap tags

Read hard cards and fill out once a task is complete

Find and calculate weight and length

Calculate the required dunnage

Pull and stage materials

Understand the packing requirements for the load (bare bundles, Reddi-Paks, wood box, waterproof paper, cardboard, pallets)

Make shipping containers, handle and pack material in wooden or cardboard boxes using good commercial practices

Proficient with use of box machine

Apply corrosion inhibiting oil unless otherwise stated on the traveler

Understand the pack schedule

Understands how to efficiently interleave material

Complete paperwork as necessary

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience: None

Certifications Required: Confined spaces certification; Crane certification; Fall protection certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals

Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions

Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
